I don't believe that religion ruins the world and I agree you have a good point.
But, many problems in the world can stem from religion.
Religion might make people happy but on the other side of the spectrum, people died to keep that religion dominant or intact.
This might have never needed to happen if mankind could be responsible for one self.
Lives and freedom > Happiness
In my opinion.

With Freedom you can gain happiness through your own hard work and your own power which is much more rewarding.

I never said that religion was spotless, but most of the battles/wars that we've had are mostly because each side thought that their religion was "True"

I hate religion. What if there is no 'god', no 'statue of awesomeness' to worship? You're wasting your time.
I've been through that religion nonsense, forced into it by my mum, when i lived with her anyway.

I had to read all the bible by reading a chapter a night, then repeating that.
God creates THE WHOLE EARTH in 6days, 7th for sleeping.
Jesus walks on water.
More food appears when it runs out.
Jesus comes back to life.
Adam got in s* trouble for eating an apple
Bread is his body, wine is his blood.
Sea's seperating.

Religion is the basis for history, as the birth of Jesus, or w/e, marks the start of A.D, the year 0.
For all that matters, religion is what binds people as a group with similar ideals; people gradually join if they liked the morals and standards set by one, despised and ruled heretics of another they disliked or went against their own religious standards. Thus, the Crusades raged with Believers of both sides fighting for what they believed in.
Heck, tell me any war that wasn't ignited by immoral actions to another, or by a religion that questioned power in such morals. The wars we fight today doesn't seem to be too different from the Crusades, since taking the Iraq "War" in view, there are prisons dedicated to torture, yet shut down due to it being unethical. Suicide bombers, as Steve gave an example of, were influenced by their religion to do so, as it was an honorable act, in their point of view.

Let me say one thing:
Extremely religous people tend to believe that dinosaur bones and any 'proof' of life more than however long ago the world was 'created' is a fake put on earth to test our belief.

Also, many wars were avoided and anarchy was not allowed to reign because of what? religion. Faith held people together. yes it killed thousands, but it saved millions. It laid down rules for society (10 commandments) and gave the public something to believe in during tough times.

So, in my opinion Religion is fake yes. but it also helped humans survive the dark ages. think about that before saying simply: RELIGION IS DUMB, DURRRRR!

i do find it funny how the ten commandments have changed during the times last year.
plus now some say you have to go to hell to get to heaven.
regardless how is it the bible changed but the word of god to those religions didn't?
i know because they said it changed with modern times.

Ok so God gave Adam and Eva 2 commandments, #1 reply and replenish the earth and #2 don't eat the fruit.
The did not have the knowledge at the time to know right from wrong. They did not have the knowledge to do #1 and the only way they could do that is to eat of the fruit of knowledge. How can he give 2 commandments that they have to break one, and it be THEIR falt?
