Lets look back at history.9/11 happened because of religion.Yeah yeah yeah
Re: Religion ruins the world eh?
Religion does rule the world. I bet 90% of the world follows what someone else says (directly or indirectly).
People really need to think for their selves.
Religion is just a replacement for proper judgment.

Many wars were created because of religion.Just think back of history.
Re: Religion ruins the world eh?
Crusades eh?
Well all those people in those wars were led by their leader's orders.
Once again people don't speak for themselves.

And that's why we shouldn't talk about Hitler in a section that even 10 year olds and 9 year olds go to?

religion doesn't ruin the world, you are only looking at one side of the argument. Have you noticed that most of the time, people active in their religion tend to get along better with other people and can work better as a team. Do you know who were the first people at the most recent hurricane?(The name escapes me) The Mormons. The first their at the last hurrican? the Catholics (I have something against that religion -not the people-)
it gives people hope or something to look too when things go bad
depends what religion, you believe in.
Not all are the same. Also how much you believe in it. If you truly believe, you might be happy, find purpose, help others. Create a better world for everyone! If you don't believe, DON'T be part of it, there is no happiness if you don't believe.

Alot of people would be actually living at the moment.

http://www.associatedcontent.com wrote:Around the world, matters of faith vary greatly, with no one thing sacred to everyone on earth. Because religion deals with ideas that transcend everyday experience, neither common sense nor any scientific discipline can verify or disprove religious doctrine. Religion is a matter of faith. Religion encourages people to look hopefully to a better world to come, minimizing the social problems of their world. A link exists between religious beliefs and societal benefit. But is there a link between religion and adolescent behavior, such as sex, delinquency, and the media's effect on adolescents? Several decades of social scientific studies have shown that religion is often a factor in the lives of American adolescents, influencing their attitudes and behaviors in ways that are commonly viewed as positive and constructive (Smith, 2003).
Emile Durkheim (1965) contended that, in religious life, people celebrate the awesome power of their own society. Karl Marx (1964) claimed that religion served ruling elites by legitimizing the status quo and diverting people's attention from the social inequities of society. Peter Berger (1967) viewed religion as a social construction, placing everyday life under a "sacred canopy" of meaning. These sociologists agree that religion has a major importance for the operation of society.

Did anyone watch the movie The Book of Eli?
Yeah it was pretty facepalmic
The bad guy killed ALOT of innocent people to try to find a lousy book.
And that book is the BIBLE.

Re: Religion ruins the world eh?
I don't believe that religion ruins the world and I agree you have a good point.
But, many problems in the world can stem from religion.
Religion might make people happy but on the other side of the spectrum, people died to keep that religion dominant or intact.
This might have never needed to happen if mankind could be responsible for one self.
Lives and freedom > Happiness
In my opinion.

With Freedom you can gain happiness through your own hard work and your own power which is much more rewarding.

Re: Religion ruins the world eh?
I hate religion. What if there is no 'god', no 'statue of awesomeness' to worship? You're wasting your time.
I've been through that religion nonsense, forced into it by my mum, when i lived with her anyway.
What a load of crap. All the questions,no answers, the AMAZING impossible lies in the bible.
Wooooo (:
