Tree Of Origin
Volume 1
Prologue:
The Tree Where All Originates – Another World
Part 1
This world looks the same, feels the same, and gives off the same atmosphere. Schools, governments, cars, computers, they all exist here, too.
But, there is one major difference.
The Tree Of Origin, or in other words, the existence of magic.
Magic. The control over elements.
Fire, for destruction.
Water, for flexibility.
Air, for speed.
Earth, for stamina.
Lightning, for purity.
Darkness, for stealth.
Light, for guidance.
Life, for living.
Time, for continuity.
These are the basic elements. They existed for their purposes, as above. But, as of late, the originality of magic has been deteriorating. Humans do not possess the ability to control basic elements anymore.
As of this, they changed the nature of the elements, splitting them into three groups, combat, support, and life.
This was sure an improvement. Magic is easier to teach, classify, and document.
But, there are always individuals who wish to seek the true origin of magic.
The Tree of Origin.
As it names states, it has a form of a tree, and yet, it is more than 3 stories high, half a soccer pitch wide, and possesses roots that reach to almost every spot of the world. The Tree is where all magic, even life, started.
If you were to learn the magic of the Tree, you could even become a God.
But, luckily, the Tree is just myth and legends. To most, that is.
The Seed Bearers, one who hold fragments of the Tree's power. How did the power end up with them in the first place? No one is truly sure.
Supposedly, they are tasked with protecting the tree, but as millenniums pass, some of the Bearers hungered for power, while some remained loyal.
The First Great War of Magic, The War of Bronze, The Cabal's War, every one of these, has connections with the Tree.
The Tree of Origin, is truly something to be feared, and to be cherished.
Even at this age, there are still people who desire to get their hands on its power, for both good and evil.
Part 2
A 16 year old looking girl in a plain white dress was kneeling and praying with her hands together. Her hair was silver white, and so long that it seemed to form a one metre circle around where she knelt.
She opened her eyes, they were the blissful shade of green, it was a large, circular, room. Completely white. Completely empty.
The girl slowly exited her praying position and stood up. Even as she did that, some of her hair was still on the ground.
She slowly opened her mouth, and with the most gentle voice one could ever hear, she spoke.
“It is starting.”
The room seemed to glow. The girl looked at the ceiling of the room, which seemed like a window with bright sunlight shining through it.
She gave a small smile.
Chapter 1:
The Boy Who Unknowingly Holds The Fate Of The World – The Initiation Of Chaos
Part 1
A 17 year old boy closed his textbook with one hand and stuffed it back into his bag. He was wearing a white shirt and navy blue jeans. It was the standard dress code for the high school he was attending. Some of the shirt wasn't tucked in and gave a delinquent-like feel.
The boy had jet-black hair, all messy and pointing out, and had an even more pointed and messy tuft right above his forehead. He was of a standard built, and looked normal in every way.
He stretched his whole body and gave a long yawn.
“Oh, jeez. That was boring.” He said tiredly.
“You can't be like that, Mizriel, social studies are compulsory!.... is what Teacher Yuraze would have said.” said a neat looking boy with deep blue hair that sat right beside the boy with black hair.
“Oh really funny, Hunt.” said Mizriel while laughing weakly.
“Oh yeah, I have baseball practice today, and the swordsman's club is off today. So I guess you'll be heading right home?”
“Nice guess, well then, I'm off.”
“Bye.”
And the two parted ways after that.
Mizriel was walking along the path right outside the school. It sure is a big one. It houses fifteen buildings and is filled with more than six thousand students.
Yamabasugo High.
Mizriel looked up at the afternoon sky. Perfectly blue and clear. He starts to walk faster.
(Better get home fast... there's a show not worth missing... I know! Let's use the alley short-cut!)
He smiled and made a detour left into the alleyway. If he were to follow the main road, it would take a big roundabout and about twenty minutes home. But if he took the alleyway, it took only about five minutes.
The school had warned against using these alleyways, as it was quite dangerous and filled with gangsters.
But Mizriel still continued on, he was a regular at the swordsman's club, able to take down a group of inexperienced people with only his fists.
(But if they could use magic...)
Mizriel shuddered at that thought. He held an E rank in magic studies. He could use the Water life magic, but only to the extent of creating ice cubes.
He continued on anyway. No use backtracking now, he was already at the other end of the alley.
The scene that met his eyes shocked him.
His classmate, Mugino Firenze, a girl with pink hair and ponytails only either side of her head. Was cornered by four people, they looked like delinquents to Mizriel. They all wore clothes that had black as its primary colour.
(Firenze's in trouble! What should I...)
Firenze was never much friendly to everyone else in the class, including Mizriel. Proud and smart, nobody would approach her. Mizriel and his best friend, Hunt Yuren once tried to joke with her by commenting how small her breasts were.
She didn't take it in a friendly way. And almost burned the two into crisps with her Fire magic. It was the first time Mizriel had to make so much ice cubes.
(Damn it, now isn't the time for that! Now I have to help her!)
Mizriel shook his head, and starting running towards the group of people. He threw the bag with full force at the bulkest-looking guy, the one he deemed most dangerous.
The group spread out as the guy hit by the bag fell to the floor with a dull thud. The group took their eyes off Firenze and stared at Mizriel, ready to fight.
Now that he was closer, he saw that Firenze was covered in wounds and bruises, she didn't seem conscious. Beating a defenceless girl up, not that defenceless, but still....
“Pick on someone your own size!” yelled Mizriel at the group as he feels anger seep throughout his body.
The person that fell on the ground suddenly sprang up at rushed to Mizriel. Mizriel was faster, he dodge aside and kicked the guy in the guts, and as the guy let his guard down, he punched him hardly in the face, instantly incapacitating him.
As the guy fell to the ground, Mizriel smiled and looked at the rest of the group.
“How's that?” said Mizriel.
“He was just a low-ranking Feather. Don't get so cocky.” One of the guys said. As he did, he raised in palm in the direction of Mizriel.
(A Feather...?)
Mizriel didn't even have time to think, the guy who raised his palm suddenly disappeared.
“Behind you...” said a voice.
Mizriel turned round, only to get kicked in the face. He spun a bit, but did not fall.
“.... Magic?” said Mizriel as he wiped off some blood at the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand.
“Combat : Darkness, to be exact.” said the guy happily, as though he was enjoying this. “Ready to die yet? Kid.”
Mizriel spat on the ground. Darkness magic. According to the textbooks, most users use darkness to phase in and out, much like Light magic Teleporting. But it had a weakness, that is they can only phase in at dark places, like shadows.
(If he uses that kind of magic.... I just have to...)
The guy phased out again. Mizriel looked at the ground, he noticed his shadow was positioned left from him, as it was the afternoon, the shadow wasn't long at all.
Mizriel swiftly swung his left shoulder, and threw his right fist out, it landed right on the guy's face.
The guy was flying through the air for about two metres before falling back to the ground.
“How the hell? How dare you, kid...” said the guy with a murderous stare. Blood was flowing from the mass that was formerly his nose.
“Phasing to my shadow.... that was easily predictable.” said Mizriel confidently. “Oh, one more thing. Stop calling me kid, it's Mizriel Troparion!”
The other two guys charged at him. Mizriel smiled. They did not use magic, and it was good news to him. He arched backwards when the both punched.
Mizriel then reach forwards and grabbed both of their shoulders and flipped them right over onto the ground. Suddenly, they did something he didn't expect, they grabbed his hands and held him.
The guy whose nose Mizriel had previously punched took out and knife and headed straight for him. This was the end. Mizriel was sure of it.
“Fire Seed. Activate!” said a certain girl.
A giant fire pillar was blasted from Firenze's palm and crashed the knife-wielding guy right up against the alley wall. A sickening crunch and a scream was heard.
At response to this, Mizriel flipped the two people holding his hand backwards. Their heads reached the ground first and they remained still.
Mizriel was going to thank Firenze for saving him. Just as he walked close to her, Firenze grabbed his hand and did some kind of acrobat spinning up his body, Mizriel thought he saw a glimpse of pink, and kicking him at the back of the head.
With this, Mizriel was knocked unconscious.
