Custom Poses Problems

Ok so I've been looking at a bunch of tutorials on YouTube and Paint.Net looks like a good program to use for makes custom hair and poses and stuff. So I was so close to getting it but...I need SP1 (Service Pack 1). So I was going to update it when I remembered that SP1 jacked my computer up last time I tried updating it. It blacked my screen out so I couldn't see what I was doing after I logged in to my computer. It took forever to figure out how to get sp1 out of my computer. So now sp1 is out and no problem with my computer but now I need it to get Paint.Net!!! What the heck is wrong with sp1?? Did anyone have this same problem with sp1?
