Hosting -
At first you won't have much money, nor many players. So basicly either choose MHost or Hamachi Friend's PC

MHost for higher uptime, Hamachi for average. As the max players you'll actually get is around 20 - 50. So Hamachi is fine, but
Having highe uptime will lessen the average amount of times you need to reboot the server. So choose!

Users -
If you care about your rep then choose Forum Signatures or Word By Mouth
If you don't care about your rep choose Advertisements or Forum Spam.
Very easy decision. Rep, from what I know is surposed to give you ranking.

Income -
Well it' best to choose GM Status here. Since you won't earn much money for the rest.

Others
GM Abuse & Hacking
Many people have problems with these part. It's really hard to find the just right amount of balance of GMs without having GM Abuse and not having Hacking going on. The best you can have it is around 1/8 GMs of your total active accounts, While hacking is going on, GM Abuse will not happen. Hacking will always be a problem, But GM Abuse can probably create more less fun & reputation then hacking. So approximately 1/8 of your total active accounts should be the amount of GMs you have.
Server's Popularity & People
This part is pretty much straight forward. The more fun and more content your server has, The more popular your server will be and the more people will play on your server, Which means more active accounts. There are 4 big subjects that affect the level of fun, The amount of NPCs that you have, The version of the client your using, The amount of Custom PQs, And lastly your server content. To begin, I would start scripting back the missing NPCs up to perhaps 175, or 200. Then script up to 2 or 3 Custom PQs. Your best chance to get a good level of fun is to always have the same version client as the offical MapleStory. Lastly is Server Content, Once you get 2 or 3 Custom PQs and have around 200 NPCs, You should try to get at least 13 - 15 Server Content. Then more people will be coming to play since it's alot more fun. Lastly, After this, Script back all 250 NPCs and then you'll have maximum fun levels.

TIP: ways to avoid gms and noobs
1. duck into cash shop
2. duck into scroll shop
3. duck into faming place
4. duck into selling of items place
5. duck into zakum

anyways, here are some more tips for private story he, he.
1) don't buy a new server until your current host is expired, unless it is the free host
2) first gather players and stuff, then later switch to gm status as your donation prize to get money for a better host
3) something I sometimes do is maybe 5 days in 30 (in the game) I will go with gm status as a prize, but otherwise stay at rare weapons as prize
