Religious Discussion

Okay I know this is probably a horrible idea that I'm going to regret but here goes. I want this topic to be an open discussion about a serious thing in the world today

Religion. Now the purpose of this topic is for people to openly share ideals and discuss INTELLIGENTLY. Since I know this will go nowhere without rules, here they are.

1. NO FLAMING. Not everyone is going to believe the same thing as you. DEAL WITH IT. There will be no flaming in this topic or stupid wars (ahem, the crusades). If you do flame someone because of their beliefs it will get reported.

2. Please for the love of god be intelligent about this. No raising points that are completely irrelevant. If you have a legitimate point to make, then make it. Otherwise, sit down and shut up.

3. Please don't try to convert us. I know that people usually think that what they have is the best and everyone else just has to have it, but come on. No advertising please.

4. This kinda goes along with the first one. Be respectful of what others think. Plain and simple, don't be an ass because someone else thinks differently.

Well since I started this, I suppose that I'll go first.

I personally am ignostic/borderline atheist. I somewhat believe in a higher power, but I have not commited myself to one religion. My main reasoning? I don't want to make an important decision like religious views without learning first. Just because my parents are totally Christian, doesn't mean that I am going to be as well. I want to learn about various religions first.

Now its all of your turns to speak. If this doesn't go well then I really encourage one of the moderators to lock it.

I guess you were PRETTY bored, huh?

Oh well, let's get on topic....

Like you, I don't really lean too close to any single religion.
I actually like studying various religions then comparing them to each other.

Most of them have the same core, remembering us to do good deeds and avoid doing bad deeds.

I agree with Esau about how many religions all say to be good and not to do bad things. To me, religion is a choice. I don't think anyone should have any extra problems in their life just because of their beliefs. I hate that wars were caused because of someone disliking someone else's religion. I understand people would defend their beliefs, but why would other people be that offensive to another's religion?

The problem is humans believe what they WANT to believe.
And then some get so cocky the want others to believe what they do to.
There are countless tyrants like these making giant bloodstains all over the pages of history.

I see. Well if you don't mind my asking, what is being a muslim all about? Or more so how do you be a muslim and what do you have to do?

the answer lies in the koran, read it

i like the book of koran the best.
i haven't committed to a single religion.
most say to do good but then look at all the wars they had to convert other peoples views to theirs.
people rag on satan worshiping for the purpose of killing or evil.
well other religions tried massive global take over by force.
out of every single religion i do think that the muslim religion is the best.
to many people trying to take it into name and do nothing what it ever did or practices.
even if a bible hasn't proven fact of the real god is theirs.
who cares because of war that was dished out by those religions.
no matter what most bibles say the same thing love thy neighbor.
how can you do that if your killing them?
just my thoughts.

Chobbi, its not that easy. I know like zero muslim people and I cant just go pick up a copy of the koran. I also agree about holy wars being fought. I hate to make a dirty reference but religion is like man parts. Its fine to have one but please don't go shoving it down my throat.

All holy wars are are fights to see who's god is better. There's no purpose. Its like arguing on the internet. Even if you win you're still wrong.

lol chobbi *I'll lend you some muslims*

I personally do not believe in a higher power or god or anything, not even the supernatural although it would be cool if dragons, etc, even ghosts existed. I think if you look hard enough there is a scientific answer to everything.

and before you start saying *why does the universe exist then?* I'll simply counter that with *why does god exist then?* and we'll get nowhere.

My 99 cents

Now as plausible as a theory as it that is Caelin, I just have one problem. Evolution doesn't make sense to me. I for some reason having a hard time believing that I evolved from some weird love child of a fish and like...a monkey or something. I dunno, maybe I just haven't learned the full expanse of the theory, but to me it makes no sense.

You're gonna make Darwin cry.

But you have a point.
If the evolution theory is true, why are they still monkeys? Why won't they become humans too?

So, humans really don't understand even themselves. This goes to show how foolish we are.

Humans only believe in what benefits them, for that is the nature of humans.
Humans are such interesting creatures....

Which proves exactly my point.
