girls... what do i do?

I dont know why but i always seem to get rejected o.o
Tonight at a school dance, i asked this one girl out who i was almost 100% sure liked me. she almost always draws on my papers, and she sometimes smiles when i make direct eye contact with her, whenever i look at her, or if she's near me.

I really like her and still do. She told me "Sorry, but i don't like you like that. But we can still be friends," and this like devastated me. I'm not cocky or a dick so i said alright, thats cool. I'm almost always told that i'm hot be random girls in the hallways so yeah i know im not ugly.

Any ideas like if i should ask her out again, if so when? what should i do to maybe get this answer to become a yes?
This is also a little stressful because we have less than 3 weeks of school left, and we're both going away for the summer. me to my grandparents, idk where she's going. Please help

There was a certain cliche I wanted to use, lost in my mind, but I'd recommend you don't, if you're still friends.
Total rejection is a downer, but you'll recover; a half-as*ed rejection will just leave the person depressed.
Besides, if the rejection was recent, you shouldn't go for another 'round.

5 year olds usually are in kindergarten or lower grades, and if I'm not mistaken, most elmentry schools don't have dances. I think dances start in Jr. High+ and if he was 5, he would be quite smart like somone else I know... (Looks at coolkid)
