Yes, they do. I heard about an all beginner Zrun in Scania (which included straat). All I know is that they went on it, lol. They either took a long time to kill it or died.
Well, outside of their guild?...Not alot, unless you have friends that organize them so they'll let you in out of pity. Though you definately won't see a beginner going to HT or PB.
