A - Z to making comics

Index:
    1. Introduction ( Read first )
    2. Painting programs ( Free programs only)
    3. Suggestions
    4. Before submitting a comic
    5. Copyrights
    6. Awards
    7. Message layout

1. Introduction

Making a comic is a fun, creative way to share experience and jokes. It will also help our site to grow! When we reach a certain number of comics we will create an comic section on the site, whereas your comics will be uploaded!
Everyone has to be using maplestory themes. The best way to get maplestory sprites and export them is by using bannedstory found at http://maplesimulator.com/bannedstory.

2. Painting programs

GIMP - http://www.gimp.org/ - An alternative free version to photoshop
Paint - Comes with all windows versions, it isn't really good for quality comics, and doesn't support layers or transparent backgrounds, etc.
Paint.NET -http://www.getpaint.net/ - An pretty good, free image editing program. But not as good as GIMP.

3.Suggestions
Keep your comic smooth and plain. Try and keep it to 1 - 5 frames ( Squares in this case )( It's not nessecary though ) . Get inspired by other webcomics... As long as you keep the comic layout somewhat quality, you need to focus on the joke being funny. Use the programs above, ask other people for advice in the development forum.

4.Before submitting a comic...
Work in progress

5. Copyrights
Work in progress

6. Awards
If you make a certain amount of comics or get enough people intrested, there might be special badges awaiting you! So try your best! ( NOTE: Not confirmed with Gillian yet so it might come to change )

Awards are distrubuted this way:
How many accepted* comics you need - Badge awarded

    10 - Image

List in progress

7. Message layout
I noticed some people are having the chatboubbles at the wrong position. So i made a quick pic tutorial:

Image

First priority: Upper or lower

Second: Left to right

Changelog:

29/12/09 - Made a base layout and added a few links + introduction.
2/1/10 - Suggestion category updated, Awards category updated. Started the award list.
27/2/10 - Message layout fixed & Dates corrected.

You're welcome to suggest links and stuff, I might add them to the main topic if they're usefull.

*Accepted comics are comics that gets to be in the official comic section.

Can't sticky this topic for some reason. Not that it's necessary now anyway ( Since there's so few topics ).

Maybe... I might add another tab for programs that might aswell cost you quite some money but also having an trial period.

However, as i said - GIMP is pretty much like a free photoshop.

Oh, and you're all welcome to suggest more links, and i might add them in the main topic.

The GIMP windows version might be hard to get familiar with at start, but you'll get used to it fast. ;)

He's actually using paint dot net wich is way more powerfull.

It's no step by step guide, mainly very usefull programs etc. Also i belive it's "backgrounds" without the space. Just a tip :)

Oh and use gimp, it's way better then paint.NET and also free - Pretty much like photoshop, legally free... It might miss out a few stuff tho.

As for the backgrounds, use layers for the best result :)

If you find an online debug serial it should be OK because neosoft ( I belive they're called ) doesn't support neopaint so it's legal.
